Cornelis Vrolijk publishes CSR Report 2023

Ready for the future together

In this CSR Report 2023 (link naar Engelstalige versie), we look back at the results of our sustainability efforts.

In the year under review, our sustainability policy continued to develop along the established path, with our policy based on four pillars: Sustainable Harvesting, Responsible Processing, Caring for People and Healthy Food. Within these pillars are seven core themes: Care for People, Emissions on Land, Emissions at Sea, Chain Responsibility, Healthy Food, Circular Materials and Biodiversity and Ecosystems, on which working groups from various business units have been working.

This report includes a representation of what results we have achieved over 2023 and where our focus will be in the coming period.

We would like to highlight a few concrete examples. For example, the sustainable renovation of the IJmuiden office building has earned BREEAM 5-star certification. And in addition to our ongoing contribution to scientific research to obtain data on various fish stocks, we have participated in specific projects such as research around wind farms and experimenting with underwater cameras to be able to fish even more selectively. Improved recipes of our herring, resulting in less loss, contribute to less food waste.

In the years to come, we will continue to focus on harmonising and improving our IT systems, also for the purpose of reporting our sustainability results more clearly and accurately.

With this report, we present a realistic picture of our company and our sector of our sustainability efforts and the social contribution we make as a food supplier to many people worldwide.
