MV Zeeland, SCH 123, remodelled and equipped with energy-efficient cooling systems

In the past year, the freezer trawler 'Zeeland', SCH 123, was remodelled at Shipyard Reimerswaal in Hansweert, the Netherlands. The refrigeration installation was completely converted to meet the latest environmental requirements and is now cooled using natural refrigerants which replace the refrigerant Freon R22. This conversion yields a reduction in overall energy consumption.

Furthermore, the Zeeland was fitted with a completely new fishing deck, work deck, sorting line, packing installation and freezer hold. All crew accommodations were refurbished as well. A new MAK auxiliary engine and separators for this engine achieve aswell a reduction in energy consumption.

The first two trips of the Zeeland were successful; fishing for Northsea herring and Atlanto-Scandian herring, which was certified by MSC in 2008 and 2010.
